BMW G 310 R
X DETAILS
BMW G310R is, undoubtedly, one of the much-anticipated launches among the enthusiasts. Ever since its unveiling in 2015, the naked streetfighter has created buzz with contemporary and muscular styling. What further adds more to its quotient is the fact that the BMW G 310 R is the first product developed under the BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company’s joint venture. However, the wait for the Indian motorcycling enthusiasts will be a little long as the company has again pushed back its launch to 2018.
Talking to English daily, Vikram Pawah, president of BMW India, said, “We need to have an adequate retail infrastructure before it (the G 310 R) becomes available here.” This indicates the BMW G 310R which was planned to be launched during coming festive season, will not come this year. As mentioned in the official statement, the launch has been delayed due to the company’s limited dealerships. Currently, BMW Motorrad has four showrooms in the country and that too for the high-end motorcycles. With an aim to cater to a wider set of buyers, the company will first focus on expanding its dealership network.
Production of the BMW G 310 R is already underway at TVS’s Hosur plant in Bengaluru. In fact, the company has been shipping the motorbike to the European and US markets. With a high level of localisation, the company aims to achieve a lucrative pricing for the entry-level streetfighter. First previewed at the 2015 EICMA in Milan, the sub-500 sports bike was also displayed at India’s largest auto event, Auto Expo in 2016. With the G 310 R, BMW will foray into the small capacity bike segment and is likely to carry a competitive pricing of Rs 2 lakh.BMW Motorrad has confirmed that the India launch of the all-new G 310R bike will take place sometime next year. Though, the company hasn’t yet revealed the exact launch date or details of the motorcycle. Earlier, it was planned for the 2017 festive season (i.e. around Diwali in October or November).
