Honda might resurrect the Dominator
Honda has filed a patent for a new small-capacity adventure sports motorcycle. With this, the Japanese manufacturer seems to be working towards reviving the Dominator moniker.
The NX650 Dominator was originally a middleweight dual-sport motorcycle, which was sold between 1988 and 2001. It featured rugged styling cues from Dakar-spec race bikes, with a road-biased character. It was said to be a great all-rounder and attracted a cult following. Now, the new patent drawing shows a motorcycle with a very similar design language as the Dominator. Just like the original, the new motorcycle has a high-riding stance, a full fairing, raised handlebar and large seat which should make it great for touring. It also gets a tail rack to accommodate luggage.

There is no word about the powertrain or its architecture. The original NX650 Dominator was powered by a 44 horsepower single-cylinder engine, although smaller variants were also available. For this one however, Honda might decide to go with a parallel twin engine. We can expect a prototype to be shown at the EICMA Show, later this year.
