Benelli Leoncino
Leoncino launch earlier than TRK 502 in India…
Benelli Leoncino Scrambler was recently launched in Malaysia for RM 29,678 (INR 4.56 lakh approx). This comes as a good news for Indian fans as most products first went on sale in Malaysia and then came straight to India through CKD or local production route.
In this case, Benelli can play safe and launch the same in India for around same price to get maximum benefits from this segment. Most manufacturers either make bikes around 300 cc and then jump straight to 650 cc but Benelli could break stereotypes with a 500 cc twin cylinder motorcycle.
They currently retail both the above given segment and that too with two products on each of the end. The center segment will host two products in the form of Benelli Leoncino and TRK 502 and take the total available premium bike lineup to a next level.
As Leoncino Scrambler and TRK 502 will share the engine, local production would be the best way to beat taxes and get numbers out of this middle segment. The production version of Leoncino carries certain changes like road friendly tyres and alloy wheels as the one seen in concept state had spoke rims with rugged tyres.
2018 Benelli Leoncino is powered by a 499.6 cc, twin cylinder engine producing 47 BHP at 8500 rpm and 45 Nm at 4500 Nm. This makes it much more powerful than any other 500 cc model on offer in India. They offer 185 mm of impressive ground clearance while Leoncino will weigh right under 200 kg for maximum performance.
Benelli’s exclusive 50 mm thick USD forks are used as front suspension while rear gets a monoshock with 145 mm of overall travel. Benelli will share most parts among TNT 300, TNT 600 and Leoncino to keep overall costs lower than any other motorcycle around this segment.
