Kawasaki Z900RS Inspired From Z1 Roadster
The 2018 Kawasaki Z900RS is powered by the 900cc motor that does duty in the Z900. However, Kawasaki mentions that they have worked on this motor to make it produce more power at lower engine speeds. Kawasaki also states that the first gear has been made shorter to make it reasonably easier for new riders while the sixth gear is taller to make the motor perform smoothly on highways.
Also, the Z900RS is the one and only retro-themed model in the Kawasaki portfolio as of now. The Z900RS looks classy with the old-school round headlamp and the twin-pod instrument gauge. The kicker is the tear-drop shaped fuel tank, which almost seems to be lifted from the Z1 itself. The bodywork is minimal which kind of adds a charm to the looks of the Z900
The Z900RS boasts of technology and features on par with other bikes of this generation. It packs a multi-level traction control, LED lights, a slip-assist clutch and radial-mounted bike callipers; see what we mean. An LCD screen rests between the analogue speedometer and tachometer and can be covered with a panel to not tarnish its retro appeal. The bike draws its power from a 948cc, 4-cylinder engine from the modern and menacing Z900. However, while the Z900 churns out 124.7PS of power, the Z900RS delivers only 111.5PS at 8500rpm.
The Z900RS gets traction control, LED lights all over, radial-mounted brake callipers and also slip-assist clutch as well. The traction control itself has two modes and can be switched off as well. None of these features offered yet on the Z900.
The bike will have 17-inch wheels on both ends, which could be fitted with a variety of tyres, Kawasaki says. The kerb weight is 215 kg and the bike will be available globally in five colours, which are Candytone Brown, Candytone Orange, Metallic Spark Black, Metallic Matte Covert Green and Flat Ebony.
