Suzuki Launch 150cc Cruiser
X DETAIL
The new Suzuki 150cc cruiser will reportedly borrow design cues from the company’s high-end Intruder range; Dealer dispatch to begin around 2nd November
Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) had announced its ambitious plans a few days back and the company seems very aggressive on its upcoming product strategies. The Japanese manufacturer had announced that it will be launching at least two bikes and scooter per year. Following this, an interesting report has surfaced on the internet which states that Suzuki will launch a 150cc cruiser motorcycle around November 5. Sadly, no test mule or spy shot of the same has appeared till date. By the looks of it, it seems that Suzuki will be employing the same engine in its small capacity cruiser that runs the Gixxer range. The engine in the Gixxers displaces 155cc and sheds out respective power and torque outputs of 15 bhp and 14 Nm. In the cruiser though, the power and torque figures will likely see a revision in order to offer more punch low down in the rev range that is a typical characteristics of such breed of bikes.
Even the name of this upcoming Suzuki 150cc cruiser is a mystery at the moment. The report further states that the motorcycle will take its design and styling inspiration from the company’s Intruder series. If this happens, the motorcycle will come with a curvy headlamp upfront along with a free flowing type design language.
The Suzuki small capacity cruiser will challenge the likes of the Bajaj Avenger 150 Street in the Indian two-wheeler market. Expect this motorcycle to come at a price of close to Rs. 90,000 (ex-showroom). The motorcycle will reportedly be dispatched to the company’s dealerships across India on 2nd or 3rd November.
Suzuki had earlier stated that it will be focussing more on the premium segment and in order to do significantly different, the company says that it has to come up with a unique approach. Suzuki intends to double its market share by the end of 2020. Also, the brand eyes on reaching 1 million sales mark by the same time. Currently, the company has a market share of 5 percent in the Indian two-wheeler market.
