2018 Bajaj Avenger spied on testing

2018 Avenger

With the new Suzuki Intruder launched, Bajaj is getting ready to update its cruiser range.

First launched in 2005, Bajaj Avenger is an entry level cruiser motorcycle which has managed to create a select fan following for itself in the country.
In 2015, Bajaj revamped the Avenger series, and instead of having just one motorcycle under the brand name, launched three. What this has done to Bajaj Avenger sales is that from selling about 2,500 – 3,500 units a month, the company now sells 25,000 – 30,000 units of Avenger a month.

Yes. Bajaj Avenger sales surpassed the expectation of Bajaj, who had aimed at selling 20,000 units of Avenger a month in India. This also means, sales of Bajaj Avenger have grown ten fold in just one year. Now, in order keep up with the growing competition (Suzuki Intruder 150), Bajaj is yet again ready to push out new updates with the Avenger series.

2018 Bajaj Avenger is expected to be launched soon. Ahead of that, Rushlane reader Pritish has managed to capture the test mule of upcoming Street 220. Updates expected on board the 2018 editions are – LED DRL, revised fuel tank cap, revised seating, new grab rail, single channel ABS, etc

The three variants of Bajaj Avenger on offer in India today are – Bajaj Avenger Street 150, Bajaj Avenger Street 220, and Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220. Update will be offered on all three variants. As the name suggests, the Street 150 and Street 220 are similar in design but are powered by different engines, while the Street 220 and Cruise 220 have same engines, but feature a completely different design.

The Street series is built for the urban crowd. It gets black matte treatment with black alloys while the Cruise series gets more chrome. Riding position too has been adjusted according to the style.

Engine will remain same. Avenger Street 150 is powered by a 150 cc four stroke single cylinder air cooled engine which delivers 14.5 PS power and 12.5 Nm torque. The Street 220 and Cruise 220 are powered by a 220 cc single cylinder air cooled engine which delivers 19 PS power and 17.5 Nm torque. More details will be revealed at launch.
